COLLOQUIA, the academic journal of thought and culture of the Institute for the Development of Culture and Society (IDECS) at Universidad Hemisferios, seeks to consolidate itself, from Ecuador, as an international journal with a global scope, committed to humanistic education through the publication and dissemination of unpublished, original, and relevant articles across the broad fields of the Humanities, contributing meaningfully to scholarly advancement. Its interdisciplinary approach promotes connections among the human sciences, strengthening an organic understanding of human knowledge.

COLLOQUIA invites scholars from Ecuador and around the world to submit manuscripts for its thirteenth issue (2026), scheduled for publication in December 2026.

Special Thematic Dossier
Leonardo Polo Today: Keys, Dialogues, and Perspectives

This special dossier welcomes research and reflective contributions addressing the relevance and fruitfulness of Leonardo Polo’s thought and its contemporary resonances in philosophical, humanistic, and cultural debates. Submissions may address transcendental anthropology, theory of knowledge, personal freedom, ethics, education, metaphysics, culture, society, and interdisciplinary intersections, including critical, comparative, and forward-looking approaches.

How to submit
Send your manuscript to [email protected], indicating in the email subject line whether the submission is for the Special Dossier or the General Section. For questions and inquiries, please write to the same address.

Editorial process and peer review
All submissions undergo an initial editorial screening to verify formal compliance and thematic relevance. Manuscripts that pass this stage are sent to external peer reviewers under a double-blind procedure. Based on the reviewers’ reports, the editorial decision may be final acceptance, acceptance with revisions, or rejection. The journal will notify authors of the decision within a maximum period of three months from the date of reception.

Types of submissions
Research articles
Research reports on topics within the human sciences. Preferred areas include philosophy, history, literature, education, the arts, political thought, and other disciplines focused on reflection on the human person and cultural expressions.

Reflection articles
Theoretical or conceptual positions (philosophical, sociological, anthropological, etc.) on diverse topics of thought and culture.

Book reviews
Concise analyses of current publications, generally requested by the editorial board.

Length and submission guidelines
Articles: 5,000–6,000 words, including footnotes and appendices (if applicable), excluding the bibliography.
Style guidelines: APA 7, Garamond 12 pt, 1.5 line spacing, and a final reference list.

Copyright notice
Authors retain copyright over their work, while guaranteeing that COLLOQUIA will be the first venue to publish it. Authors may also enter into additional agreements for non-exclusive distribution of the published version, always acknowledging original publication in COLLOQUIA.

AI use and plagiarism policy notice
COLLOQUIA reaffirms its commitment to academic integrity and editorial ethics. Submissions must be original, unpublished, and not under simultaneous consideration elsewhere. Any form of plagiarism, self-plagiarism, substantial duplication, citation manipulation, or improper use of third-party materials will result in immediate rejection and, where appropriate, notification to the author’s affiliated institution.

The use of generative AI tools is the sole responsibility of the authors. Such tools may not be listed as authors or co-authors. If used for specific and limited purposes (e.g., grammar correction, stylistic improvement, preliminary translation, or technical assistance), authors must disclose this in a transparency note, identifying the tool and the nature of its use. The substantive content of the article (arguments, analysis, data, interpretations, conclusions, and references) must be produced and verified by the authors. The journal may apply similarity checks and editorial verification and reserves the right to reject, request substantial revisions, or withdraw an already accepted text if practices contrary to these policies are identified.
