Methods, models, and theories: The Relevance of Foreign Policy Analysis for Understanding the Russo-Ukrainian war
Abstract
This research addresses the complexity of contemporary conflicts, focusing on the outbreak of the 2022 Russian-Ukrainian war. Using the approaches of the School of Foreign Policy Analysis, an empirical-descriptive methodology is applied to connect theory with practical cases. Constructivist approaches are merged with models of Foreign Policy Analysis, such as Social Identity and Behavioral Models, to analyze foreign policies. The Distraction War Approach and the Bureaucratic Model explore the influence of identity constructions and social control. The Grand Strategy Approach and Organizational Model evaluate the historical efficiency of foreign policies.
