Résumé

En el De Anima de S. Alberto Magno, se estudia el entendimiento agente como un elemento diferente del intelecto posible. Este intelecto es la parte activa de la inteligencia debido a que se encuentra siempre en acto, y por tanto puede conocerse a si mismo e iluminar a la inteligencia. Tiene como características el estar separado de lo concreto, no tener mezcla con el cuerpo, porque este es corruptible y el intelecto agente es eterno e inmortal. Además es impasible porque no pasa de la potencia al acto y es una sustancia en acto, es decir que debe estar en un lugar puramente actual, lo que inserta una contradicción dentro del sistema albertiano, que lo ubica en el alma. El intelecto agente también se verá en cuanto interactúa con el posible y en cuanto ambos se necesitan mutuamene. Finalmente, se tratará sobre cómo el intelecto agente es primero que el posible y tiene más ser, por lo que ignorarlo vuelve inexplicable la teoría del conocimiento humano.
