Concord, democracy and public opinionAbstract
In this work I will analyze the Aristotelian precedents of concord in ancient Greece and the treatment given by the greek in the Ethics to Nicómaco. In this way, fine lines will be drawn regarding what kind of common understanding is necessary for concord and how it can be fostered in the democratic political regime, whose origin goes hand in hand with the emergence of ideas regarding civic friendship. To get a glimpse of the path to achieve the latter in the current context of the 21st century, I briefly discussed the role of public opinion in the dynamics between power and authority that occur in contemporary democracies.References
