Sociologists have studied the effects of technology on society and have asked the question of what shapes technology. Some sociologists (especially feminists) focus on the answer to this question through new approaches. These perspectives suggest that technology is socially constructed. This study discusses the digital gender gap experienced on a global scale in general terms. The study reveals that women significantly lag behind men in terms of access to digital technologies, the internet, and the depth of the digital divide they experience. In this context, clarifying the difference between gender and technology cannot be resolved without considering the effects of class, politics, patriarchy, and capitalism in society. In this context, this study claims that the shaping and application of technology is based on the existing gender system.
